Texas Legal RecruitersJob Hunting Tips With the uncertain economic situation, many people are finding themselves in a position they haven’t been in since Johnny Carson hosted “The Tonight Show” – searching for a new job. Because it is not something many people like to practice, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to provide useful tips for a successful job hunt. Get that old résumé in order If you haven’t looked for a job in ten years, there is a good chance that some things are outdated on it. It is really important to add current and appropriate contact information on a résumé. There is no point in sending the résumé out to people if they can’t get in contact with you. Since so much correspondence is carried out via email, it is important to include an email address that is checked frequently. Represent skills accurately This goes with updating a résumé. It is important not to undersell or oversell your proficiency in a particular area. In order to represent skills accurately, it could be a good idea to consider visiting a skills-assessment site to gauge proficiency levels in an area you want to highlight. Search for your name using search engines Google and other search engines will frequently turn up unflattering pictures and blogs concerning a person. These cannot help anyone land their dream job. As such, it is a good idea to run a search on yourself before submitting a résumé. If there are unflattering pictures or articles, it may be possible to have them removed. Research potential employers Researching potential employers, besides giving you an idea about who the people are, will help you organize your thoughts before any interview. In addition, it will help you figure out how you will fit in with and help the company. If you are looking for a new job or new employee to fill a particular position, please contact the Texas Legal Recruiters at the Sapire Search Group at 1-866-413-2868. |
